Welcome!
The Equestrian Team is made up of a group of equine athletes at Rensselaer. This club is a social organzation that provides many activities for its members to enjoy, such as days at the barn, volunteer programs, team dinners, boot-polishing parties, and other fun activities with the team.
The team rides hunt seat equitation and is an active member of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association. Our members range from beginner to experienced riders: everyone is welcome! A number of members also choose to compete in horse shows sponsored by the IHSA.
In addition, we also try to serve the community through equine related programs. One program sponsored annually by the team is a trip to Little Brook Farm Horse Rescue with incoming freshmen during Navigating Rensselaer and Beyond week.
For more information about the team, feel free to contact us here.
News:
Hello everyone! I hope that Spring Break finds you relaxing and preparing for an awesome end of the semester with the RPI Equestrian Team.
A few bits of news:
Congratulations to Angi, Hannah S., and Melissa. These three team show members will be competing at Regional at Skidmore Collge on March 31st... Come Support Them! This is a huge achievement.
Our next boot polishing party, for Regionals, will be Shirt Tie Dye! Come get messy with us on Tuesday, March 27th from 5PM until we are done (about 9PM). There will be snacks!
Also, we are ready to sell our AMAZING Relay for Life shirts (see picture below and to the right). They are $10 each. This year's teal/ light blue shirt with white text is dedicated specifically to help raise money to support a cure for cervical cancer/prostate cancer. To us, this is an important cause because, frankly, that area influences our riding. When being judged on our equitation we must remain seated and still… this led to the catch phrase “SIT,” which is frequently yelled to us during practice, and is the reasoning behind our support for this particular cause this year. If you want one, please contact the officers.
These shirts were made by us (in the living room) to keep the cost as low as possible and to maximize the donation to the American Cancer Society. The Adair Group helped us with this mission. We would like to thank them for graciously donated 60 of the 132 shirts and discounted the rest of the bulk shirts that we ordered. This allowed us to significantly cut down our production cost and increase the profit that goes to the American Cancer Society. We are very grateful for their support.
